About
After completing the Bachelor of Design at University of South Australia, Aleesha decided to pack everything up and move over to London. An 18 month travel extravaganza followed, and once the Visa (and dream) had ended, she returned to Australia, to settle in Melbourne. The city brought many opportunities, starting out as a Junior Graphic Designer at a truck and trailer curtain and decal company, and then onto Henderson Greetings, as an Illustrator/Graphic Designer working on greeting cards. It was here Aleesha's love for illustration resurfaced. So she began working creatively on the side, drawing her own ideas and finding pleasure in putting pencil to paper.
Over time her style developed (and still is) using coloured pencils and dabbling in watercolour. Here she entered and was accepted for Immerse Exhibition, within the Knox City Council. This had her displaying her artwork in a cafe in Boronia, Melbourne, which was received well. She then went on to work for a time at Wicked Sista designing patterns for bags and accessories. Her most recent role was part time at a printing company, while drawing custom illustration work for customers pets and loved ones.
Aleesha participated in Kid Lit Vic, a seminar held for up and coming illustrators and writers for children's literature. From this Aleesha has begun to develop a portfolio, showcasing her unique style and passion for children's illustration.
She has participated in makers market's around Victoria, selling her products online and has attended drawing workshops, life drawing and small business seminars across Melbourne.
She has recently made the move to her home town of Millicent, a small town in the South East of South Australia. This allows her to immerse herself in the art industry over two states, and within the country arts scene.
Her dream is to illustrate kid's books, editorial, magazines and packaging. She is currently taking on work in these areas and would LOVE to sit down and chat with anyone interested in having her work in their publication.
